MapScenes Business Development Manager

MapScenes Business Development Manager

MicroSurvey Software Inc. is a dynamic, growing, medium-sized software company located in the beautiful Okanagan valley. Crime scene and accident reconstruction software applications are a MicroSurvey specialty; our MapScenes and Evidence Recorder Pro solutions are considered industry benchmarks.

MicroSurvey is releasing highly anticipated new versions of our premier accident and crime scene reconstruction software in 2013, and we're looking for a business development manager to work out of our head office in Kelowna, BC. Our new products and reputation, combined with your enthusiasm, industry knowledge, and skill set will take our dealer network and market share to new heights worldwide. You may be retired from law enforcement, or have experience in accident reconstruction or forensics – if you have sales experience, even better. It goes without saying that you will be an extremely motivated self-starter capable of working unattended and enthusiastically towards your growth targets. Compensation is a combination of salary and commission.

Technical and Academic Qualifications: Ideally, the MBDM should have some sales and marketing experience – more importantly, the MBDM should have a firm understanding of accident and crime scene reconstruction (Level II Reconstructionist certification would be beneficial). MBDMs must be computer literate and have strong communication skills (CAD software proficiency would be an asset). As with all MapScenes staff, MBDMs must be highly motivated and have good organizational skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responding to sales leads: As sales leads are received by telephone, email, fax, letter, or from trade shows, the MBDM is responsible for gathering and recording relevant prospect information, determining the prospect's requirements, demonstrating software and explaining benefits to the prospect, and closing sales.
  • Prospecting: MBDMs are required to make cold calls to prospective customers and dealers sourced from MicroSurvey's reconstructionist database and from internet sources, as necessary to create additional sales leads.
  • Qualification and needs identification: MBDMs must be able to qualify prospects and determine their needs using active communication skills and a defined sales process.
  • Demonstrating software programs: MBDMs are required to demonstrate the functions provided by our products so that prospective customers can become familiar with them and gain an understanding of their benefits. Demonstrations are done at trade shows and from the office using telephone and Internet-based tools.
  • Closing sales: Technical Sales Representatives must be able to understand and apply professional sales techniques required to close sales.
  • Follow-up: Once a sale is completed, the MBDMs must follow up with customers on a regular basis and ensure they are satisfied with their purchases.
  • Trade shows: MBDMs are required to attend industry conventions or trade shows, and conduct product seminars. They must be proficient in demonstrating MapScenes programs and be successful at promoting and creating interest in them.
  • Other duties as required: MicroSurvey fosters a team environment. From time to time, it will be necessary to assist other MicroSurvey employees in meeting deadlines or ensure that a customer receives technical information. MBDMs are required to assist each other while attending trade shows or if someone is away for any reason. MBDMs must be willing to assist with other responsibilities, not outlined in this document, when the need arises.

If you have the qualities we're looking for and enjoy working in a great team atmosphere, we can teach you how to build and grow a market by providing award-winning customer service and excellent products.
